Background
Plowright Organic began in 2000, when Richard Plowright delivered a handful of organic veg boxes to homes around Bridgwater. A few years later, Remke joined the business and the box scheme gathered pace. In 2006, securing a council farm tenancy at Stowey Rocks Farm unlocked the next stage of growth, expanding production to 20–30 acres.
Today, alongside a dedicated team, Plowright Organic grows all of the vegetables for their veg boxes, farm shop and Minehead farmers’ market — delivering across Somerset, from Porlock to Bruton, Bristol to Ilminster.
The Challenge
With an established customer base and a wide delivery area, the challenge wasn’t demand — it was meeting changing expectations. Customers wanted more choice and flexibility from their veg boxes, while the team needed a way to offer that without adding complexity or admin behind the scenes.

The Solution
After moving to Growing Good, Plowright Organic reshaped their veg box offering around the customer. Shoppers can now swap items within their box or build their own box from individual products, with a higher minimum spend than a standard box.
This flexibility allows customers to shop in a way that suits their household, while the platform makes it straightforward for the team to manage bespoke orders at scale — without compromising structure or workflow.
