Challenges

The main challenge the team at Sheffield Organic Growers (SOG) were facing was being able to offer flexibility, whilst managing the ever changing availability of produce from their farm.

Their previous software solution was preventing them from delivering an optimal online shopping experience for their customers. They struggled to offer extra products and could not update their product availability for their online store with ease, reducing their potential for upselling to their customer base

Solutions

SOG went live on Growing Good in the Spring of 2023. The flexibility and first class shopping experience built in the platform means SOG now offer a much wider range of products on their store such as individual fruit and veg items, eggs and local bread as well as veg box swaps. Being a small market garden having the ability to tie up loose ends of produce greatly improves profitability. Products and box contents can be updated in real time, which can easily be done out in the field on a smart phone or in the pack shed.

For me one of the big draw factors for choosing GG over other platforms was real-time updating, box planning and product specific stock control functionality. We aim to supply as much of our own produce as possible through summer and autumn and can limit stock easily, eg. if we have ten lettuces left on a bed and the next crop isn't quite ready yet. We have the option to limit items to boxes, as add-ons, or make them available to swap. Just want to say thanks to the team for producing this software - we've had some great feedback! The swaps functionality is used more and more as we've taken on new customers, and as existing ones have got to grips with what the software can do.
